Cruising along Michigan’s historic Old 27 route from DeWitt to Harrison in my 1962 Volkswagen Bug was a nostalgic adventure steeped in charm and character. The Bug’s air-cooled engine hummed steadily as we wound through quaint small towns, vibrant farmland, and stretches of tree-lined road, its classic curves drawing smiles and waves from fellow enthusiasts. The open windows let in the warm summer breeze, carrying the scent of fresh-cut grass and the occasional whiff of vintage motor oil, while the simple joy of driving a piece of automotive history made every mile a celebration of Michigan’s scenic beauty and the timeless spirit of the open road.
