the weather was beautiful and the 62 bug wasn’t the only bug in the crowd, beautiful classics and the food was awesome.
A collection of photos and videos of my 62 VW beetle. It’s a hobby and an adventure taking us to new places and making memories along the way.

1st place import class today in Harrison

Headlight assembly gasket and headlight wiring conduit
Both of the headlights missing rubber gasket, also found a wiring conduit to protect the wires under the fender.
-
Headlight seals
I replaced both of the headlight seals, old seals cracked, I thought I received the wrong seals but they fit, a little tricky at first but they will go on with some patience of course.
-
LED light project
A updated video of the LED lights in action will be added in the near future. The fender turn signals willl remain non led for now.
-
turn signal seals, light housing, LED blinkers
Changed both of the fender turn signal seals, light housing and installed the LED bulbs.
update: I do use an led flasher relay, these lights do work but for an unknown reason they affected my rear led turn signals, so I’m using the original style blinker bulbs until I can find a solution.

2024, it’s a new year!
The bug is currently hibernating for the winter, I have owned this bug for five years now. This is a hobby and an adventure taking us to new places and making memories along the way. This 62 ragtop beetle is currently the only vintage vehicle I own. It’s a “rolling work in progress” it’s not perfect, but is so much better now. But we still have work to do…to be continued…

End of the year maintenance
It’s been two years since we had those front disc brakes installed, so it was time to get that brake fluid flushed, the bug wasn’t downshifting into 2nd gear correctly and I suspected the shift rod bushing was worn out, after doing some internet research I came across a delrin bushing upgrade and decided to go for that. The suspension had a consistent squeak and was resolved by greasing the front beam. The repair shop also investigated the engine oil leaks and found several areas of concern, the push rod tubes were replaced, oil changed, valves adjusted, and sump plate cleaned up and reinstalled.
